PA Costello joined Albuquerque Dermatology Associates after completing over 27 years in a distinguished military career retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He has over 20 years’ experience as a Physician Assistant and earned his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Air Force Physician Assistant program. He has worked with multiple Dermatologists throughout his career and has worked exclusively with Dr. Sky Connolly since February 2014.

PA Costello is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has consistently scored in the top 2% of all PA’s nationally. He is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Air Force Physician Assistants, and the New Mexico Academy of Physician Assistants.

PA Costello is a Diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants indicating he has completed additional training and certification in Dermatology and achieved the highest honor available as a Dermatology PA.

PA Costello has previously been recognized as the United States Air Forces Physician Assistant of the year, United States Air Forces Europe Physician Assistant of the year, and Medical Group Officer of the Year at the Royal Air Force Base, Lakenheath, UK as well as the Company Grade Officer of the year at Brooks AFB, TX.

He has served as consultant to the Surgeon General, United States Air Forces Europe, Senior Medical Advisor NATO Forward Headquarters as well as Senior Medical Advisor to the Iraqi Army. He has led a team of Nuclear Inspectors for the Air Force Inspector General while serving at the Air Force Inspection Agency and was on staff at the Kirtland AFB medical clinic prior to transitioning from the military.
He treats a wide variety of dermatology conditions. His duties include performing skin cancer screenings, biopsies, cryosurgical destruction (freezing) of precancerous growths (Actinic Keratoses), and managing chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and acne. Additionally, he has many years of experience in dermatologic surgical removal of skin cancer from a wide host of locations. PA Costello is accepting new patients and is easily accessible for both new and existing patients.
